Day 7 - 2 Gym badges but 9 mins over!

3:39 on the play clock now - it was 3:29 and I was standing in front of the 2nd gym leader and I thought I'd go for it.  This means a shorter play tomorrow, and as I've no idea where to head next it'll be exploring I think & back to teh same PokeCentre.

I was down to my last Pokemon with two of theirs remaining, but as it was my Lvl 26 I wasn't too scared.  Now Lvl 27 Pidgeotto with the new move Feather Dance or something - it lowers attack.  Still not got any flying attacks which would have helped things along!

Walk wise I added a few levels to DLC the Pidgeotto which probably helped it survive the gym, but I only used it after all the other options were poisoned and knocked out.  The slowpoke cave before it was fine with just my lvl 11-12 normal Pokemon.

I have Ponyta back on the PokeWalker for the moment, but will put DLC back on for the walk to work as I don't have to think about changing it so often - must be about 1,500 steps or so now per level, I keep forgetting to look.

Did an Item trade with the PW at work and got an Ether.  Wonder what other hidden goodies are out there?

Almost unlocked the 7th walking course too - the !!! Pokemon are decent levels so may not swap so often and hunt for those instead. :)

Day 6 - less walking, more evolving & levelling

So  - Only three levels for DLC today - a lot less walking and time to swap around + around 1,000 steps needed each time.  No moves for the next few levels so might as well leave it out of the party too.

Ventured into Union cave during the play time and 15 mins in had already put three levels onto the metapod causing it to evolve into Butterfree and learn a host of new moves.  Should prove a destructive force especially as it's got sleep confusion poison and psychic attacks...

Switched to my lvl 5 Oddish to keep things interesting and as he has Absorb I made it through the cave speedily with a lvl 11 Oddish.  He's quite probably one of my favourite Pokemon and looks great following on.  Hit the 3:00 hr mark just as I'd met the first Team Rocket person so I saved without talking to him and turned off.

I'm thinking more Pidgeotto (DLC) and Ponyta on the PokeWalker tomorrow - plus I may actually get to battle Soul Sliver at lunch!

Day 5 - Lots of steps = lots of levels!

Ok - overnight I've caught:
2 Venonat
a spare rattata
WOBUFET!
ODDISH!!
and two Paras

The spares I figure I can use for trading to Platinum to rescue my old teams after I beat the Elite 4 but before I trade Plat in.

This is mostly due to playing early yesterday and late today, but also I racked up an unusually high amount of steps for a work day by getting up early, ignoring the busses and then having to visit my girlfriend for my spare keys when I realised mine were at work!  Will probably be 12,000 steps by the midnight cut off.

The Pidgey DLC is now lvl 21 - had to stop there else he won't learn the next move (according to  quick look on Serebii). Currently Sending Ponyta to the Dim Cave...

Luckily caught a lvl 6 Bellsprout that had taken no damage - Pidgey couldn't touch it without wiping it out!  Decided not to catch a Wooper but left it in the low red with one hit so caught it anyway & named it Smudge.

Trekked down towards the next city for 30 mins fighting and not much happened as I mainly used DLC the and he went up to lvl 22 and is now DLC the Pigeotto and learned Twister - Piracy won't stand a chance now! Back in the PokeWalker he goes until the next play session tomorrow...

2 Hrs 32 in now. Sticking to the schedule means you don't get far in the game - I can see that casual players may be getting bored & without the serious PokeWalker training not as far as me.  Maybe the casual focussed TV adverts are not a good idea - we will see.

Day 4 - First gym badge

On the PokeWalker I've picked up a good few steps now - unlocking the first 5 areas and levelling up my Kangaskhan as all my main Pokemon were in the tower.

The main guy from the Bellsprout tower was a pushover using the limited moves I had, and had a flying type Pokemon for Bricks the GeoDude to take out.  This was a portent of the limited damage I received in the Gym, only the final Pigiotto required me to swap to the GeoDude to finish so I levelled up & evolved my Caterpie to Metapod and put a few more levels on my Rattata 'Joey's Mom'.  I remember this being a lot harder so I think my PW heavy strategy is beginning to pay off.

I did a bit more exploring but decided to finish up in the PokeCentre so I could trade off my Pokemon to the walker.  Goal for tonight/tomorrow is to get more levels on Pidgey and Ponyta.

Day 3 - a quiet day with a few new Pokemon to squash

After yesterday's play session I was 6 mins over on play time at 1:06.  Sticking more rigidly to the schedule I decided to have a short 24 min session and to try the gym battle.  Turns out I'd forgotten that you have to climb Sprout Tower first.  With a lvl 9 Ponyta and lvl 15 Pidgey on the team a bunch of lvl 3 Bellsprouts shouldn't be an issue - unfortunately neither knows any decent moves yet so most of the time was taken up with tackle battles.  I swapped in Geodude for a bit as he was close to levelling up and he got Rock Throw.  This made short work of a Hoothoot on the top floor.

Time limit reached no-where near a PokeCentre I popped a SlowPoke on the PW and will be walking that up until Sunday's play session.  I think i' going to actually have to use TMs to teach moves to a few of these over-levelled Pokemon so that I can actually be more than just a low damage tank...

Day 2 - First trainer battles and off to next town

Well overnight I got quite a few steps on the PokeWalker, I was out and about and went to a wedding reception.  With a bit of walking and a bit of dancing I got a fair few Watts and levelled up Bricks the GeoDude from 2 to 8.

Popped him back into the team as the leader and wandered through the grass to the next area, battling Trainer Joey (of Rattata fame) and a few others to level up to 9.  Nothing extra happened - so any moves that a Pokemon should have learned are missed out.  This means he has tackle and defence curl as the only moves.

I got into town and healed up and went out the other side for an explore.  There is that tree Pokemon blocking one of the paths, but I went south to the ruins and did the puzzle and caught an Unown. Went back to the town to save so that I could pop all the Pokemon in the box for walking today.

Decided to lead the walk with DLC the level 2 Pidgy and had a bit of an experiment with the PokeWalker.  Seems that its a lot less steps to level up than I thought so each time I'd earned 3W I flipped it out and back in again.  I currently have a lvl 15 Pidgy due to 7,000 steps today, but not being able to always swap the Pokemon around I could have been much higher.  Still only has it's original lvl 2 moves though...

I also used some Watts to catch a few Pokemon so have a Pollwag, Ponyta, Nidoran (i think), and maybe a few others.  Liking this addition so far - I can level Pokemon without having to play DS, but the odd set up of having to flip the Pokemon back means I have to spend a minute or two flipping it back and forth which limits the low level raising.

Day 1/2 - Pick up and getting to Pokewalker

So I made extra time this morning and went to pick up Heart Gold from the post depot.  The box is indeed similar to the Walk With Me (Personal Trainer Walking in the USA) game so explains why it couldn't fit through letterbox & this first 30 mins (ish) replaces the time missed yesterday.

After the usual brief introduction and naming ceremony (I am a Girl named 'Retail') I rushed in to see the man in the lab coat and got given a Pokemon - I chose Totodile as it was the first one I clicked on & named it 'DeeArrEmm'.

I rushed out into the grass to find Mr. Pokemon, roughly remembering where it was from the olden days and killed a few 'Mon on the way with scratch.  I chatted to him then ran back down (getting various bits of tutorial and gear) and met up with the rival (who on returning to the lab I named 'Piracy').  I finished off in starter town and made my way back to the original town - getting pokeballs off Ethan on the way.

Casual rules state that I'll catch the first Pokemon I see so now have a Pidgy ('DLC') and a Geodude ('Bricks') which I found on the way.  I made it to the PokeCenter and put them both in the PC so I could at last use the PokeWalker - 34 mins in.

On the walk back Bricks already levelled up, so I flipped him out of the PW and then put him back.  Not sure how this is going to effect the watts and moves that they learn - will find out the hard way no doubt.

Day Zero

Game was delivered today - unfortunately nobody was in and it's larger than an average DS box so is sitting at the post office.

Will pick it up tomorrow morning and get started.
